Over 200 people showed up to protest ICE deportations in New Bedford today. At New Bedford City Hall, Adrian Ventura, Executive Director of Centro Comunitario de Trabajadores (CCT), spoke truth to power. Standing firm against immoral ICE violations and the abuse of power that has led to the kidnapping of Indigenous residents, Adrian uplifted the voices of our immigrant communities — especially Central Americans — who contribute so much to this city. From paying taxes to fueling the local fishing industry with often exploited labor, their dignity must be recognized. Adrian also called out the noticeable absence and indifference of current New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell in the face of these injustices.
